Washington Commons: Yuppie Snoozefest or That Person was Just an Asshole?

Bklyn Green Drinks Wash Commons

I swear, I don’t even know why I look at yelp reviews sometimes, or just comments of anything in general, because there’s always some troll or someone that has SOME problem with SOMETHING. ALWAYS. I’ve even found bad reviews on Trip Advisor for the fucking Four Seasons. Like, REALLY guys? So anyhow, apparently one of these reviewers deemed the Prospect Heights bar Washington Commons a “yuppie snoozefest”, and a “white girl” bar, before qualifying that she’s indeed a white girl, and not particularly self-hating…which made her statement make absolutely no sense. So, I’m going to go ahead and say that that person is probably an asshole/troll.

In my opinion, Washington Commons is a breath of fresh air, especially if you’ve burnt out on Williamsburg/Greenpoint bars. I don’t feel it has any particular pretension, just a great selection of beers that include Old Speckled Hen and some Belgian beer that comes in kwacks….and they’re not even that expensive. Maybe that’s yuppie-ish, but it’s better than some shitty canned beer that you’re not in the mood to drink for the 80 billionth time. I mean, it’s not exactly a fucking tapas bar that we’re talking about here.

Did I mention that their draft beers are generally around $6? And they’re not all a variation on PBR? If that’s yuppie, then just call me Gordon Gecko. Oh, also, during the summer, they have a really nice outdoor space that is about twice as large as inside. And guess what? Only ONE TIME that I’ve ever gone has it been crowded. ONCE. ZOMG YUPPIES.

Here’s another gem from the reviews that literally has nothing to do with anything about this bar that I’ve ever seen:

“Then the man sitting next to me, wearing vasectomy-tight jeans, knocked his PBR all over my sundress in a frenetic rant which culminated in the phrase, ‘cocaine makes me do bad things. Like f*ck fat chicks.’

That’s when I realized I was still in Brooklyn.”

FIN.
