Graham Ave. Meats and Deli: Best Sandwich Ever

01-Graham-Ave-Meats-Deli

So this one day, I was working late and hadn’t left the computer for like 9 hours straight– not even for lunch, bathroom, NOTHING. I went over to my boyf’s house all exhausted and strung out on coffee with a computer screen glow permanently etched in my sight. Food was the last thing on my mind.

He tried to convince me to eat the last quarter of this sandwich he had with a bunch of meat in it. Now, I’m sort of an on-again/off-again vegetarian and I’m not a huge fan of a bunch of meat stuffed between bread (unless it’s a Dumont burger)– it’s reminiscent of the one time I was forced to eat a cheeseteak in Philly, which was fucking terrifyingly horrific. So anyhow, after he insisted about 20 times that I need to at least taste this sandwich, I finally caved.

And then my brain exploded. All over the floor. Not really but, like, it was the best meat-based sandwich I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. I know Graham Ave. Meats & Deli’s the Godfather sandwich (which I haven’t eaten) has gotten a lot of press, which has two types of meat, the sandwich I tasted with three, the mildly spicy version (you have a choice of mild or spicy, but they’re both a bit spicy) of the Willie’s Italian Special was like out of control with flavor. I believe, and I’m not sure, that it has proscuitto, capricola, salami, fontina, sundried tomatoes, olive oil, and other unidentified spices. My boyf said it took the guy like 20 minutes to make, so who the fuck knows what the deal is. All I know is that I can categorically say I have never experienced such a combination of that much Italian flavor in one sandwich and that it has maybe ruined me for other sandwiches.

I can’t wait to try The Godfather.
