FREE BBQ & Dollar Beer at Connie O’s Backyard Bash

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

You know we’re getting close to summer when the smell of hot chestnuts is replaced with the simmering smell of hot dogs and other street meat, and I’m not talking about those fancy food carts. Floaters, foot-longs, weenies, whatever you want to call them, it’s hotdog season in the city and I’m so ready for it.

To kick off the BBQ season and show off their newly renovated backyard, Greenpoint local favorite, Connie O’s is throwing a Backyard Bash tomorrow, so bring your appetite and your singles. Starting at 3, they’ll be grilling up free food all day. That includes your traditional grill fare like hotdogs and hamburgers as well as veggie burgers for the meat averse. And if that weren’t enough, they’re offering $1 mugs of beer, $2 domestic bottles and $4 well drinks, so be sure to pace yourself!

Even if it rains, who says you can’t enjoy the simple pleasure of cheap beer and free food indoors as well? Stop by Sundays and Mondays for their regular happy hour specials and free pool, because those days are usually a buzz kill most of the time. See you in the backyard.

Connie O’s Backyard Bash
Saturday May 14

Laura S, left the "sixth borough" three years ago to settle in Brooklyn. After working at some daily rags, she now does writing on the side but still eats more Ramen then necessary. When she's not moving residences every 6 months, eating her way through every neighborhood, and trying every microbrew known to man, she is unsuccessfully rediscovering home economics. With her binging days behind her, she's now exploring new projects and rediscovering the city that she loves (although is still prone to sliding on her knees during a Prince karaoke set).
