FREE Good Riddance Day

Updated: Dec 27, 2011 22:14
The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Preparing to say good-bye to 2011? Head down to Times Square on Wednesday, 12/28 at noon to take part in Good Riddance Day. Based on a Latin American tradition of filling giant dolls with items from the year and burning them, Good Riddance Day invites anyone who would like to symbolically purge themselves of anything from 2011.

There will be shredders, sledgehammers and dumpsters on hand to rid yourself of evidence of a break-up, a layoff, or anything else that you’d like to forget. Odds are that this event could get emotional for some and super awkward for others. Either way, it should be entertaining. And the most creative entry will win an iPad 2. Nifty.

A recent transplant from Orange County, California, Quincey is in the big city with an Empire State Building-sized craving for culture... and learning that "free" part of freelance. Having been a high school English teacher for the last few years, she sadly knows the penny pinching lifestyle all too well. She's got a freakishly adorable dachshund named Walter Matthau and she really enjoys taking a bite out of this Big Apple everyone keeps talking about. Quincey may look straight outta the 'burbs, but.. well, yeah, she's straight outta the 'burbs.
