The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

In my humble opinion, the best part about visiting This Nation’s Great Capital is all of the FREE Smithsonian museums that Washington, DC has going on.  Would I like to learn about everything from airplanes to the decorative arts?  Why yes, especially if I can do so for FREE!  Because you know what?  Learning shouldn’t cost anything.  If brain exercise was FREE, maybe there wouldn’t be so many meatheads all up in this Earth.  Anyway, the fabulous people at Smithsonian magazine get it, which is why they are spreading their love of no-bucks learning all across America this weekend.  May I present to you, Museum Day Live!, when hundreds of US museums will offer FREE admission this Saturday, September 29th.

As someone who loves going to museums, but frequently needs to dip into my museum fund to do things like feed myself tacos, I am super jazzed about this.  A complete list of all participating museums can be found HERE, but some of my personal recommendations include the DeYoung, the Cartoon Art Museum, and the Legion of Honor in SF; and the Dia: Beacon, Studio Museum in Harlem, Brooklyn Museum, and El Museo del Barrio in the NYC area.  Just pick a museum from the list, enter your info, and print your FREE ticket for two.

Don’t get brain diabetes.  Put that thing on a steady diet of education and mind exercise, starting with Smithsonian’s Museum Day Live!
