10th Annual World Veg Festival This Weekend

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve never really been a fan of vegetables.  Actually that’s an understatement.  I fucking hated veggies for most of my life.  I don’t know why, but pretty much as soon they hit my tongue, it was like somebody took a dump in my mouth….not in a fetishized Folsom Street Fair* way, but more of a “Hey fucker!  You just shit in my mouth!” kind of way.

But as I’ve gotten older, my taste buds have become more tolerant and pretty much now the only thing that completely makes me want to vomit is raw onions.  They ruin everything and I wish they all died.  Anyways, for those of you who do love vegetables, and consider yourself vege-a-matarians or vegans (I’m looking at you Laura from Vegansaurus), boy do I have an event for you!

The 10th Annual Veg Festival is happening on October 3r and 4th.  It’s being put on by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society and In Defense of Animals, and there’s gonna be all kinds of shit going down like lectures, cooking demos, and veggie speed dating….seriously.  For the full list of activities, check out the website.

Just to counter act all the rampant vegetarianism going on that weekend, I’m gonna be eating extra bacon dogs.

10th Annual World Veg Fest
Saturday and Sunday, 10/3 -10/4
10am-6pm
San Francisco County Fair Building [GG Park]
Entrance at 9th Ave and Lincoln
$6 suggested donation, FREE before 10:30am

*Quick side note: I did go to the festival yesterday and saw a chick bound upside down to a light pole.  She was butt naked, save for her purple stiletto knee high boots, and she was blowing some chubby guy.  Oh, the Folsom Street Fair….
