FREE Standup Comedy at Madrone

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Smokers to the right, please.

Yeah, I know I talk a lot about Madrone, but that’s because it’s my go-to neighborhood bar and they always keep it fresh with the DJs and events. That said, it’s the first Wednesday of the month which for many people means free museum admission, but for those of us that like to get our culture handed to us by a vulgar guy at a microphone while holding a delicious beverage then there’s Laugh Out Loud Happy Hour at Madrone. This monthly event brings together an array of local standup talent for a two hour FREE show. That means no cover, and technically no 2-drink minimum like at a comedy club. (Although you’d kind of be an idiot not to take advantage of $1 off drafts, $2 PBRs, or $5 mojitos.) The lineup changes monthly so you might not recognize any of the names unless you’re really into the local comedy scene (is there one of those?) but so far I haven’t been disappointed by the acts. The deets:

Laugh Out Loud Happy Hour
7-9pm FREE Cover and drink specials

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
