FREE Show Tonight at The Independent: Deer Tick

Hey look, there’s a free show tonight at the Independent! And I’m not even talking about their free movie night (that’s on Mondays). This is a legit concert with a real band that I’ve actually heard of.
Deer Tick makes some pretty damned pleasant Americana music. Are you down with Dr. Dog? Big fan of Vetiver? Maybe some old Wilco stuff tickles your pleasure centers? Then it’s a good bet that Deer Tick is right up your alley. (Which in this case isn’t really an alley, but Divisadero.) In fact, Deer Tick will be coming back to SF in April to open for Dr. Dog at Great American Music Hall, but now’s your chance to catch their show for FREE.
Of course, since the show at the Independent is presented by the hilariously long-named cellphone: “T-Mobile myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition” and MOG, the Bay Area-based music blog network, they’d really appreciate it if you would RSVP to mogshows.deertick@gmail.com, but apparently they don’t know what RSVP means because it won’t guarantee entry, so you should also show up early. [PRO-TIP: Hang out across the street at Bean Bag and spend the money you saved on tickets on $2 beers. Keep an eye on the line from the outside tables on Divis.]
