Dolores Park Movie Night Is Back…TO THE FUTURE!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I’m really excited. I’m surprised I’m even able to feel again since I was pretty sure my life was over after Jesus let it rain like fuck on Easter Sunday, thus ruining my holiday.  It  forced me to spend most of the afternoon inside the Pork Store Cafe chugging mango mimosas and wishing I was golfing in Palm Springs or in Potrero for the Bring-Your-Own Big Wheel Race.

In any case, all is redeemed by the FREE Dolores Park Movie Night, which makes its triumphant seasonal comeback Thursday night at dusk (which a little birdie told me will be at 7:39pm). The first flick is Back to The Future, the iconic ’80s film featuring a deliciously young, pre-Parkinson’s, Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and that one actor who plays super meathead-y Biff (the bully that looks like he just cockblocked his roommate after getting rejected by the same ex-cheerleader in a matching pink velour sweatsuit at the Marina bar Matrix).

The movie is FREE, but popcorn will be for sale (and who watches a movie without popcorn?), as well as probably some sidewalk chili, Tamale Lady goods and, if we’re lucky and the dickhead cops aren’t being douchebags, tetrahydrocannabinol-enhanced truffles. Can’t think of a better Thursday night. Jesus, I officially forgive you for Easter Sunday.

Dolores Park Movie Night 2010 Kickoff Thursday, April 8th, Dusk (7:30-ish) Dolores St. between 18th St. and 20th St. [The Mission] FREE

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
