Meet Jason Munn (aka The Small Stakes) at The Curiosity Shoppe This Saturday
The Small Stakes book of posters is out now! Yay!
My fascination with graphic designer Jason Munn, also known as The Small Stakes, began in college when I was given a Modest Mouse poster for my birthday by a jerk who subsequently stole said poster when we moved out of a shared apartment three years later. Though that relationship didn’t last, my love for The Small Stakes did. Throughout the years I’ve collected several posters designed by The Small Stakes, including this Mates of State gem:
Cute, right? Now a bunch of The Small Stakes’ posters have been compiled into a new book creatively titled The Small Stakes: Music Posters. I’m planning to cut the pages out of this baby, frame them and tell people I own extra-special limited edition Small Stakes mini-posters.
If you would rather not maim your copy like a retard, you should definitely get it signed by Jason himself, who will be at The Curiosity Shoppe this Saturday from 5pm-8pm. If you buy the book at the Shoppe or from the Chronicle Books website, they’ll throw in this letterpress print, which is pretty awesome. Oh, and if you need a little something to tip the scale, there’s gonna be FREE snacks there too.
