Muni Diaries Live FREE Tonight at Make-Out Room

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

"That one time on Muni..."

Once upon a time, I thought only bad things happened on Muni, like catching the herpes or sustaining a stab wound to the hamstring.  Then I found Muni Diaries, an awesome site created for readers and riders to share Muni-related stories.  There I discovered something surprising:  NOT ALL MUNI STORIES ARE DOWNERS.  Good things happen on Muni too, like once in a while the bus is on schedule and you get where you’re going on time, attractive Clark Kent professor types carry cute Yorkies in knapsacks, and so-old-they’re-half-dead grandmas smile gratefully at you when you let them have your seat.

Funny things also happen on Muni, and tonight at the Make-Out Room, a bunch of hilarious people will take the stage to share them with you — for FREE.  Presenters include comedian Will Franken, Johnny FunCheap of FunCheapSF and more.  Silvi Alcivar of The Poetry Store will also be writing poems on the premises, and since there’s no cover, you can spare a few bucks for some charming off-the-cuff verses.

There will also be an audience participation portion of the event in which prizes will be given out for the best Muni story.  Who knew that the 3am nightmare ride on the 14 when that prostitute fell asleep on your lap would pay off?

Muni Diaries Live at Make-Out Room Friday, April 23, 7:30pm-9:30pm 3225 22nd Street [Mission] FREE

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
