Indie Mart is This Sunday!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The d.i.y., rock’n’roll circus is back and better than ever this month! July’s Indie Mart at Thee Parkside will be the best yet with tons of the stuff you know and love and more new stuff than ever!

That dude Broke-Ass Stuart will there be doing Broke-Ass Crafts so you can make all kinds of fun, dirt cheap things.  Who wants to put money on whether he injures himself or not?  Magnolia will be heading up the photobooth so you can get goofy, swap kisses and document the day’s debauchery. As always, San Franpsycho will be pulling up in their infamous milk truck to silkscreen for the crowd.  Also there’ll be over 20 brand-new vendors because, shit, Indie Mart is always trying to give you the best in independent design.  You know how they do.

Workshop will also be there, setting up d.i.y. projects for everyone! Whether you want to make a terrarium, a sock monster or a pie in a jar, look no further! They’ll have stations and teachers all showing you how to do Workshop’s most popular classes. There’s even gonna be a Heavy Metal Aerobics sesh mid festival, just to make sure that you’re keeping the energy up.

Something I’m really excited about is that the Indie Mart peeps are gonna have their first EVER life-sized terrarium where you can hang out, drink a beer and get lost in woodland wonderland!  Sweet right?  There’s so much cool shit going happening, the list really just goes on. Doesn’t all this sound amazing? And what the hell are you doing on a Sunday other than getting drunk anyway? Let them know on Facebook if you’re coming, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Broke-Ass of the Week - Tech Journalist Jolie O'Dell

Monica Miller - The Intern

Monica Miller - The Intern

Ms. Miller was born in San Diego, CA to one lesbian mother and one
righteous, cheap father. Currently, she is enrolled at San Francisco
State University for a B.A. in Journalism and the approximate
completion date is around 2015. She has worked for many papers in the
Bay Area, including the Oakland Tribune and the San Mateo Country
Times and is currently the city editor at one of the most
underappreciated publications in SF, the Golden Gate [X]press. Though
she may find bargains aplenty, it only stems from the necessity of
never landing an actual job and working for hacks [like Stuart.] With
intelligence, style, poise, bite, and honesty, she will rip your heart
out; but not before writing some awesome, poignant shit. This year,
she is looking forward to bigger and better things such as: trying to
get paid for a gig, actually finding a date that isn't a loser or
fucking crazy, not calling her parents when hungover and bringing you
the best of the 7x7 everyday of the week. [By the way, I wasn't
kidding about the date thing; if you love food, booze and shoegaze,
get at me.]
