Dalva — Your New Sunday FREE FOOD Destination

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

SUNDAY FUNDAY!

First thing’s first:  WHY THE EFF DIDN’T I KNOW ABOUT THIS??  I thought I was the ultimate connoisseur of everything FREE food-related, as I am super broke and also a huge pig.  In any case, this one slipped by me until now — the ultimate Sunday Funday at Dalva.

I was already a fan of Dalva as a bar, but now I’m a fan of it as a place to stuff my face on the weekend too.  Every Sunday, from 4pm – 8pm (or until I get my hands on it), FREE vegetarian fare is served, along with a slew of drink specials.  The food changes weekly, but past dishes have been eggplant lasagna with homemade dough, roasted butternut squash soup and vegetables, and spicy pad thai with crunchy peanut sauce.  Repeat after me:  Hells to the yes!

Also, happy hour runs from 4-7 on Sundays and includes $3 domestic taps, $3 sangria, and $4 well drinks.  After happy hour ends, another deal kicks in:  If you buy a call shot or a cocktail, you get a Trumer for only $1.  Boom!  If all that weren’t enough, Dalva also hosts karaoke from 9 to close.  I think I just described my ideal Sunday…

(Big thanks to Dave for the tip!)

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
