Life Is Simple At Phil’s Sliders

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Phil’s serves sliders.  Little burger, little prices.  They look small at first glance, but these little things are so effing tasty!  At two bucks each, even a broke-ass can double up.  Phil keeps his slider simple:  one hefty grass-fed, beef medallion, fire-grilled to medium-rare perfection, a fresh piece of iceberg lettuce, cheddar cheese, a bun, and a zesty house sauce.  Yes, you heard right — cheese comes on this burger at no extra charge!

Phil’s sliders are accompanied on this menu by an array of homemade treats, including milkshakes, cookies, and pies.  But Phil’s sliders should be accompanied on your plate by his famous tater tots.  A crispy cover gives way to the butteriest potato interior you’ll ever find on a tot.  Delicious!  Now wash it down with Phil’s handmade root beer.

But don’t drive.  Parking sucks and your exhaust is killing the trees.  BART is two blocks away and Berkeley is filled with designated bicycle boulevards.

(Thanks to E, C & T for taking a bat break to bring us this tip!)

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
