Celebrate Comedy Day in SF for FREE Sunday Septemer 18th

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Live comedy has been performed outdoors since the beginning of time (*this statement has not been verified by anything). This Sunday September 18th over 30 of San Francisco’s finest comedians will be taking the stage in Golden Gate Park all for the low low price of FREE. If you’ve gone to a comedy club recently steam probably shot out of your ears when you realized you’d be paying 20 plus dollars for entry only to get the privilege of purchasing two over priced beers once you’re in your seat. This Sunday you won’t have to shell out a single penny to see comedy and more likely than not you’ll be able to sneak in a few tallboys in your chrome bag.

With three dozen comedians taking the stage over the course of five hours you might not get a chance to see everyone so here are my unsolicited reccomendations.

Ngaio Bealum
Will Franken
Joe Klocek

Head out to Sharon Meadow at Noon on Sunday and I assure you, you won’t be dissapointed in what you see (I mean they’ve been doing this for 30 years they must be doing something right).

Hugh Hunter - Economical Essayist

Hugh was born in Boston, but managed to escape to the Bay Area before acquiring that ridiculous accent. Growing up in Marin, Hugh joined the throngs of suburbanites that dream of being rock stars and movie gods only to end up in a well appointed cubicle. Now Hugh lives in San Francisco and casually ignores his environmental studies degree, choosing to write comedy and eat burritos instead.
