4th Annual Inner Richmond Pubcrawl

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The Richmond gets a bad rap. Actually, it gets no rap, really. Despite the fact that the RD is home to tasties (Shanghai Dumpling King? Eh?), the biggest festivals (Hardly Strictly? Eh?), Robin Williams (kind of – he lives in Seacliff), extra strong coffee to combat all the fog, and one of the best bookstores in town (Green Apple, heyo!), young Friscans tend to overlook its charms, citing the Richmond’s distance from more routinely finger-snapping spots.

What will it take for the young ‘uns to realize? A pub crawl or something? Maybe. This Saturday marks the 4th Annual Inner Richmond Pubcrawl, a booze-studded fest hitting up the hood’s best watering holes. For better or worse (better, really), we know how to drink out here, and we do it pretty damn cheaply. Ten bars make up the night’s agenda, ranging from Happy Lounge, the initial meeting spot (8 p.m.) to Plough & Stars, a music-heavy spot sitting happily on Clement.

We covered the third shebang last year. The crawl was a successful study in debauchery, so much so that the organizers urge prospective ragers to bring a clean liver.

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
