Kirk Von Hammett’s Day Of The Dead Bash and Book Release

Yes, the lead guitarist from Metallica is throwing a party in the Mission the day after Halloween. And it’s to celebrate his new book about his frighteningly large collection of monster-movie memorabilia! It’s called Too Much Horror Business.

That means you can stop home on Thursday around noon, looking like the zombie you will be after not sleeping the night before, take a quick nap, and rise from the dead in time to pull on the best ’80’s metal t-shirt that’s still haunting your closet and float down to Public Works for the concert/book release party he’s throwing. Pre-sale tickets are $13.99.

Here’s what the Amazon blurb ghost whispered to me in a dream last night:

“Kirk finally unveils his near-mythical treasure trove of rare posters, props, costumes, and toys from the early silent classics to more modern fare. From Bela Lugosi’s annotated Dracula script to the creepy Donnie Darko bunny suit to cool model kits from the 1960s, Hammett has amassed hundreds of items over the years…”

A Donnie Darko bunny suit? Awesome. The Public Works website says you’ll be sharing the room with “…Zombies, Burlesque Dancers, horror face painting, [and] Special musical guests include Judgement Day and Bay Area favorites Death Angel!” I’m hoping they all happen at once, as in, zombie burlesque dancers wearing horror face paint, dancing to Death Angel.

Rock in Peace (RIP), everyone.
