Free Burning Man Documentary

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

As one of the rubes who has never experienced Burning Man, I have had to rely on a mental image that has been shaped by 1st hand accounts, a general idea of human perversion, and movies like Mad Max: Thunderdome.    But, here is how a they put it:

“Burning Man is an annual experiment in temporary community dedicated to radical self-expression and radical self-reliance. Each year, tens of thousands converge on an ancient lakebed (playa) in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada to participate in a temporal city. Each year’s event has its own unique theme, around which all manner of art installations, art cars and theme camps gravitate.”

Either way, tonight should sort things out because there is a free screening of the 2006 documentary Burning Man: Beyond Black Rock.   There will be a discussion after the screening with tips for first timers and starting the dialogue for this  September’s trip to the playa.  I’ll be accepting sponsorships if anyone wants to ship me out.

Here is a short video from Burning Man, but not the documentary.

When: Tonight @ 7pm

Where: Ciao Stella 206 Sullivan St (between Bleecker & 3rd)
