FREE “Pink Slip Party” At Galapagos Tonight

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

This post is for the truly Broke-Ass.  The ones who are broke because they have no income, and have no income because they have no job.  You’ve felt alone, lo these many nights. Sending resume after cover letter after desperate plea into the cyber-abyss of Craigslist, monster.com and idealist.org. and hearing nothing but the echo of your own despair.

But dust off that printer and rattle out a bunch of copies of the old resume, because  down on the Brooklyn Waterfront, mere cobble stoned steps from the Brooklyn Bridge, the people at Galapagos Art Space have heard your cry.

Tonight, beginning at 8 PM (doors at 7),  head down thataway for their first ever Pink Slip Party.  Described by the people at Galapagos as an evening of skill sharpening, social networking and the drinking of alcohol, the Pink Slip Party is an awesome opportunity to meet with hiring managers and other entrepreneurs, and to figure out whether or not you’ve got a future in this town, while enjoying drink specials and live performances.

There’s also talk of free haircuts from a resident stylist.  I’m not sure where that fits in to drinking and networking but dammit, good hair’s important shit when you’re going on a billion interviews.

The first 100 people to RSVP will get a FREE resume evaluation by career professionals; you’ll be notified by email if you’ve won this opportunity, and will receive the evaluation upon check in at the event. RSVP to jobhunt@galapagosartspace.com

It seems like this event will be heavy on creative, digital and green-related positions so dress more Mac, less PC, if ya know what I mean. And if you can afford it, buy a few drinks for the other partiers–the drunker everyone else is, the better you’ll look by comparison.

Galapagos Art Space 16 Main Street @ Water Street, DUMBO, Brooklyn NY

BAS Writers is mostly a collection of articles written by people for the early days of this site. Back then nobody knew that snarky articles they were writing could come back and haunt them when job searching a decade later.
