Drinking and Dancing Competition at The Lab TONIGHT!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Spilling a drink at the bar is like spilling a sperm sample — its going to take about 45 minutes to get another one, so guard that shit with your life. That’s why The Lab is hosting the hilarious Drinking and Dancing competition tonight. It combines the art of two things that are often put together, but not done very well at all. Strategy suggests that you should grab a beer and not move around too much, but I would go full force with a manhattan and the Charleston and would probably dance “Hold Tight” by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mich and Tich. Ryan would probably assault the dance floor with a Tokyo Tea and drop a booty bounce to “I Like It Raw”. Sad part is, I think that reality has already seen this act numerous times.

There are two rounds — an open competition round and the knockout round. For the open competition, just show up and let loose. But if you’re a bit of a diva and need just the right music and the right drink, you can sign up before hand and send in your tunes and your libation of choice. Be advised: they will only provide beer, wine, vodka, gin, orange and cranberry juice, and Izze sodas for dancers, but its fucking FREE. You’re welcome to bring your own condiments and liquors of choice if you want to be a show off, but its free, its just fine for me.

Monica Miller - The Intern

Ms. Miller was born in San Diego, CA to one lesbian mother and one
righteous, cheap father. Currently, she is enrolled at San Francisco
State University for a B.A. in Journalism and the approximate
completion date is around 2015. She has worked for many papers in the
Bay Area, including the Oakland Tribune and the San Mateo Country
Times and is currently the city editor at one of the most
underappreciated publications in SF, the Golden Gate [X]press. Though
she may find bargains aplenty, it only stems from the necessity of
never landing an actual job and working for hacks [like Stuart.] With
intelligence, style, poise, bite, and honesty, she will rip your heart
out; but not before writing some awesome, poignant shit. This year,
she is looking forward to bigger and better things such as: trying to
get paid for a gig, actually finding a date that isn't a loser or
fucking crazy, not calling her parents when hungover and bringing you
the best of the 7x7 everyday of the week. [By the way, I wasn't
kidding about the date thing; if you love food, booze and shoegaze,
get at me.]
