Recession road trip!

Ever wanted to take a road trip across the United States?  Ever wanted to make a documentary while doing it?  If you answered yes to both questions, maybe your name is Brian or Austin Chu, because they actually did that shit.  Six months, one crashed car and probably lots of Jim Beam later, “The Recess Ends” was born, a documentary chronicling the current economic climate in the U.S. and how it’s had far-reaching effects on everyone, from the family living in inner city Detroit to the CEO of that huge corporation.

Come support the Chus and celebrate the DVD release of “The Recess Ends” on Friday, May 7!  It kicks off at 7pm with an uphill bike race from the bottom of Chinatown to Medicine Agency at Jackson and Mason, with winners scoring FREE prizes from Benny Gold, Alite Designs, and more.  A FREE screening of the film will begin at 8pm at Medicine Agency, followed by an awesome afterparty.  There will be FREE booze (a keg! a keg!) and snacks too, or if you’d prefer, you can BYOB.  You know, some people make documentaries; others scour the interwebs for FREE shit to do.  Everyone’s special in their own way.

“The Recess Ends” DVD Release Party and Bike Race Friday, May 7, 7pm-10pm Medicine Agency 1262 Mason Street (at Jackson) [Nob Hill] FREE

How to Cheaply Repair You CDs and LPs

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
