More Cheap Clothes in Union Square! Daria on DVD!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I’m really excited for two very different things happening tomorrow…

1. Daria comes out on DVD. If you were a fan of the show, you have also been waiting for eight years for the DVD box set. I would like to point out that you can order the Bachelor Finale DVD while you’re watching the reunion special, but I’ve been waiting eight years for Daria. Before now, the cloest thing I had to a box set is the VHS tapes I recorded off MTV. If you didn’t watch the show, Daria is a Beavis and Butthead spin off about an acid tounged girl going to high school.

2. Nordstrom Rack opens in Union Square
, a store designed for the broke ass who doesn’t want to look like a scumbag. Oddly enough, I refused to shop at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack when Daria was on the air. I saw both stores as a source of evil, providing my classmates in high school with layerable shirts in the same three colors to wear while the primped their single curl bangs in the bathroom mirror when I wanted to wash my hands. But then I grew boobs, and Nordstrom was one of the few stores that carried bras in my awkward size.

After high school, I got the fuck over myself and figured out Nordstorm just sold simple, high quality clothes that were free of evil powers. The only problem is the regular store isn’t that broke ass friendly, but Nordstorm Rack is! Instead of having clearance sections in their individual stores, Nordstrom puts all their mark down items into one store. If you’re looking for crazy discounts on warm and fuzzy sweaters, designer shoes in sizes five to 11, trench coats for selling letters in a dark alley, bras in difficult sizes, etc. check out Nordy’s Rack. To give an idea of the mark downs, you’ll find ruffley underpants marked down from $14 to $3, Calvin Klein bras marked down to $15. Its Union Square location is sure to make it a madhouse, but it’s gotta be less crazy than Century 21, right?

Kiley E - Ragamuffin Researcher

After years of denial, Kiley has finally admitted to baring a striking resemblance to Velma from Scooby Doo. Instead of traveling in a van hunting ghosts, she prefers wandering on foot in search of tacos, cheap beer, and fake birds. Growing up in Portland, Kiley enjoyed the balance of urban and green spaces. Then she spent her four years at Ithaca College, and found herself craving more sprawling asphalt in her life. So she moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where most of the buildings look like they're about to collapse. Kiley's favorite activities include: getting lost, crafting, sewing, biking, and geeking out at museums. Her love of taxidermy probably makes her a terrible vegetarian, but she doesn't care.
