Gross Science: Louis Sorkin and Gene Kaplan at the “Geeking Out” Lecture Series

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I consider myself a pseudo-scientist.  I watch a lot of science shows on TV.  Once upon a time I got a '˜five’ on my Biology Advanced Placement test.  I even got a scholarship in biology for college.  Alas, I was making more jokes in lab than getting experiments done and I abandoned my science dreams for more theatrical pastures.

For those of us with dashed hopes of science grandeur there is a monthly free lecture series called 'œGeeking Out.'  This month’s Geeking Out is guaranteed to satisfy the gross side of your science mind.  Hosted by Gelf Magazine, this Thursday will feature a talk with Gene Kaplan author of What’s Eating You? (that’s about parasites, people) and Louis Sorkin, an expert in'.wait for it'.BEDBUGS'at the American Museum of Natural History.  EEEEEEEEW!

Admission is FREE to this geeky-grotesque event and drinks will be available.

Christine Witmer - Sparing Stringer

Christine was born and raised in the land of the Pilgrims, Plymouth, Massachusetts. She turned in her buckled shoes when she moved to NYC to attend NYU. From that esteemed University she received her BFA in theatre as well as a Master's Degree in Performance Studies in 2004.
Now an actor, writer and broke ass day-jobber, Christine juggles her many personas with the elegance of a red panda. specifically the one in the Prospect Park Zoo . . . soooooo cute! She can be found most often in her own habitat on the Northside of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
