White Trash Heaven: Blingo and Frito Pie at Butter Tonight

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

BLINGO!

I’m always looking for different things to do on weeknights other than, say, go straight home after work, have a glass of wine (or a bottle, depending on how much of a penis wrinkle my boss was being that day), order Big Lantern and fall asleep to reruns of The Hills (Team Lauren forever!) and Gchats that I immediately regret upon waking up in the morning.

So imagine my immeasurable joy when I got wind of this event, courtesy of our good pal Johnny Funcheap, at Butter tonight — BLINGO.  I’ve personally never heard of Blingo, but apparently it’s like Bingo (you know, the really popular old people game), except way more fast-paced and fun (i.e. even if you get a bingo, you might have to do something crazy-ish to EARN that bingo).  Pluses:   $2 PBRs all night and 8pm-10pm happy hour with $3 drafts.  Not to mention the insane menu here, which includes mini corn dogs, chili cheese tator tots, deep fried mac and cheese and frito pie.  My white trash heaven.

Blingo Night at Butter Wednesday, June 30, 8pm 354 11th St. (btwn Folsom & Harrison) [SOMA] FREE before 10pm

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
