Token up at Brooklyn Brewery
I find it way easier to spend things that represent money than actual money, even though it takes actual money to get the things that represent it. Which is a confusing way of saying I think it’s pretty awesome that Brooklyn Brewery uses wooden tokens as currency for beer, and also I am afraid of what will happen if I ever go to Las Vegas. It is also a slightly random way of me introducing you to the many reasons you should take a visit to the Brewery.
The reason most people go is to take a free tour, which run on the hour 1-5 Saturday and 1-4 Sundays. Spoiler alert! You’ll basically find out that an AP reporter was tired of dodging bullets overseas and joined up with his banker buddy to make the beloved brew, so if you’re short on time feel free to focus on boozing. They always have specialty batches on tap to try like my personal favorites the Blast or Monster Ale, which take 1 or 2 tokens depending on its alcohol content (tokens are $4 each or 6 for $20 so not bad either way). Friday nights it’s open 6-11 PM so your drinking demons can rejoice into the weekend.
So park yourself on one of the long picnic tables, order a pizza or four, and play some freakin’ euchre because that’s the real reason to go. It’s casual and cheap fun, and also a great way to make people play the aforementioned game euchre with you.
