FREE Fool’s Gold Show at the Clift Hotel Tomorrow Night!

Dance, dance, dance ’til you’re dead! Okay, those are lyrics from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but whatevs.

So yesterday I was playing with BandMate, the coolest iPhone app ever.  Basically it’s the who/what/when/where/why of live music and includes tiny venues that I would probably never think to check, like Your Mom’s Sex Chamber.  (There isn’t really a venue called Your Mom’s Sex Chamber.  You wish, sicko.)

Anyway, I have BandMate to thank for tipping me off to the FREE Fool’s Gold show happening at the Clift Hotel tomorrow night.  All you gotta do is send an email with your RSVP to before 5pm on Saturday (i.e. four hours before the show) and you’re set!  I also have to give a shout-out to the Urban Outfitters Music website, where, a couple years ago, is where I first heard the mellow awesomeness that is Fool’s Gold.  On “Music Mondays,” the site posts five completely FREE songs for download from bands that are usually virtually unheard of, but that inevitably blow up.  And if you don’t like the songs, you don’t feel guilty deleting that shit forever, because hey, it was FREE.

I’m going to conclude by saying if you like the jungle, swaying, guys with beards, The Very Best, shrooms, warbling, or any combination of the aforementioned items, you’ll probably be into Fool’s Gold, so you should definitely get your free-show-at-a-hotel action on this weekend.

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
