Yoga – Cheaper than Drugs

Yoga Gets you Higher than Drugs

My first yoga teacher ever, Lars at SFSU, once said that Yoga could get him higher than any other drug he’d ever taken – which I assume was a lot because he wouldn’t really stress that fact if he didn’t know what he was talking about.

I recently started getting back into Yoga, but have yet to feel like I’ve gotten my brain to think about absolutely nothing, while staring at a spot on the wall while trying my hardest to balance on one leg.

Maybe I will after Yoga of Bass – a talk on Music, Ecstasy, and the Search for Freedom with International touring DJ/Music Producer FreQ Nasty and Yoga/Meditation Teacher Claire Thompson this Friday at Counterpulse in the Mission.

The duo takes on a new twist to the ways people interpret music, Yoga and the dance-floor through an interactive workshop  focusing on the love, unity and the inner body. They have both studied Yoga and Buddhism with their teacher, Venerable Sumati Marut, for several years. Lorien Ondre will teach a yoga class at 6pm (bring your own mat!), and Rigzin Tromge will lead Meditation, Music and Mantra at 7:15pm.

The event is donation only (but kindly requests a $20 contribution to benefit the Mahasukha Kula Great Retreat Fund). Confront your own ethical battle to see if you actually can handle being a broke-ass or not. I would advise paying, learning the technique and essentially saving tons of money you would’ve blown on drugs anyways.  RSVP:

The Yoga of Bass (with Freq Nasty and Claire Thompson) at Counterpulse Friday, Feb. 25th, 6pm-9:30pm 1310 Mission St. [SOMA]

I actually went to this. I am so happy right now. It was probably the best thing I’ve done all year. I can’t even handle it. I think I just figured out the key to life. Yoga, meditation demonstration and then FreQ Nasty was awesome – he and his girlfriend are extremely well spoken and funny. He is playing at 1015 tonight – I might even have to go!
