Preview the New York Art Book Fair This Thursday at PS1
Heaven on Earth will come to Long Island City this weekend– in the form of an old public school overflowing with art books, catalogs and zines. Featuring more than 200 exhibitors, along with lots of free talks and performances, the New York Art Book Fair is legitimately awesome. Held at MoMA’s PS1, FREE, and open to the public, the NY Art Book Fair will obviously be the hot spot for art enthusiasts this Friday-Sunday.
But hold up– can’t wait for the weekend? Then you best join the party this Thursday night, September 29th, from 6-9pm. Head out to PS1 for a preview of the show, and an opening reception filled with fun and mingling. Did I mention that this is also FREE and open to the public? Serious dream situation. Get a little nibble of the fair this Thursday at the reception, then head back over the weekend to figuratively stuff yourself– Thanksgiving dinner style– with art, music and people watching.
Even if you don’t buy anything, the NY Art Book Fair promises to be a good time– it’s a blast just to flip through books, drool over limited edition publications, and chat with talented, poor artists who are just trying to make a living at this thing. Plus, there are cool events like a “zine swap” in the courtyard, where visitors can trade zines and make new friends. Like I said, this place is Heaven for broke-asses!
