Whipper Snapper has a Happening Happy Hour

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I found a great place for Happy Hour in San Rafael that I can swoop by for a drink and some cheap appetizers on my way back to the city after work. Whipper Snapper is the perfect spot for meeting the girls for a pitcher of Sangria and some tapas. They offer a banging Happy Hour specials Tuesdays -Fridays from 5-6 p.m. Certain dishes are just $3 and you get good deals on pitchers of Sangria. It’s best to order a bit of everything and share.

The “Snapper” is the sister restaurant of Cha Cha Cha’s in the city – and the Sangria is the exact same recipe. The red one is good year round, and I’d recommend the white one with peaches on a hot summer’s day while chillin’ on their back patio. The food is tasty and affordable. The tapas are not definitely not authentic Spanish tapas – the cuisine mixes Caribbean and Latin American flavors. Think fried plantains, black beans, coconut salad dressing and cajun shrimp. The atmosphere is fun and the interior is colorful. The place is often packed, especially when there is  live music on the weekends. Whipper Snapper is definitely worth a try – that won’t put too much of a dent in your wallet.
