FREE Admission to the Noguchi Museum Through April 22nd
Japanese artist Isamu Noguchi was one pretty cool cat. The Ben Franklin of the art world, Noguchi was a real Renaissance man, and was well-known for his simplistic sculptures, public art, landscape architecture, lighting, and furniture. There’s a Noguchi Museum in Long Island City– dedicated to the jack-of-all-trades’s work, and, of course, housed in a building and interior garden of his own design. Sounds awesome, right? It’s even more awesome that starting tomorrow, April 4th, the museum will be FREE until April 22nd. What a score!
The FREE admission is promotion to entice visitors to see the exhibition “Civic Action: A Vision for Long Island City,” in which awesome artists like Rirkrit Tiravanija propose future plans for the city. With the Noguchi Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, and, duh, MoMA PS1, Long Island City’s a pretty happening place in the art department. Why not take advantage of this FREE admission, and go visit all three with the money you’re saving?
