Enjoy the Sweet Sounds of the Accordion– FREE in Bryant Park

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Throw a baguette under your hairy armpit and slap a beret onto your head– it’s time for lunchtime accordion concerts in Bryant Park!  Enjoy the sounds of Paris with FREE musette-style accordion music every Tuesday, from 12:30-2:30pm.  Pack a picnic lunch, and pretend you’re on a lavish European vacay– all without leaving NYC or spending a dime.

Okay, let’s be real– when I think about accordion music, I think about my dad’s self-taught skills on one that he bought at a garage sale (this is a man who, despite his undying love of the Harry Potter movies, still incorrectly refers to two of the main characters as “Dumpledorf” and “Hermangy”).  Needless to say, Child Me would roll my eyes and say, “Daaaddd!  You’re so embarrassing!”  as he more resembled one of those wind-up monkeys in a fez hat than a cool accordioneer.  But I’m now ready to give accordion concerts another try, or, at the very least, revel in their cheesiness.  After all, it is FREE.
