North Beach First Fridays: Stroll, Gaze and Drink

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

If you’re like me, unwinding at the end of the week means finding time to wander. And First Fridays in North Beach has everything I like in a Friday afternoon: block after block of beer, poetry, and art.

There are 20+ galleries and shops with happy hour deals and every kind of exhibit you can imagine. Essentially, they are inviting you to come down, drink beer and browse some art. I think we can arrange that.

Here are some highlights for July 6:

  • 1314 Gallery: Complimentary drinks and food for the new show curated by Mary Minahan featuring Leah Lubin. Poetry and music from Ava Bird, Jamie Erfurdt, Steve Hollis, Gary Horsman, Leah Lubin, Clive Matson, Jym Marks and Steve Carolan.
  • Artist and Craftsman Supply, an employee owned company: They have an ongoing “Misfits Exhibit” that’s “…an ever evolving collection of artworks donated by staff, customers and local artists.” Check out their Facebook gallery to see what’s there now. If you have something you want to add to the Misfit show, you can bring it along. And if you need supplies, they give you a 10% discount if you mention you’re there for First Fridays.

There’s a lot more. Read about it here. Cheap beer, lots of art, and full streets.

See you there…
