Our big #TackleHomelessness protest is upon us. Here is some important info you need to know for today. Make sure to follow the Facebook invite to stay updated. If there is anything missing, please let us know in the comments.

– Route to get to Sinbad’s//meet-up point at 4:30pm:
—coming from Embarcadero Bart, exit B2 at Market & Main St. Take Main toward Mission Street, take LEFT on Mission. Follow until you reach the Embarcadero. Cross the street towards the ferry building. Sinbad’s is to the right of the Ferry Building tucked back behind the Port-A-Potties.

–  At 5pm we will march towards our encampment site and setup our peaceful encampment. If you are coming late, we will be easy to spot, just follow the perimeter of the corporate Super Bowl City until you find us.

– Please dress warmly and bring non-perishable snacks and water to share. We will provide some water and basic snacks, but encourage those who can share to please bring what they can. We will have a specific area setup for this, so if you bring things, feel free to bring to the designated area and/or come get snacks and water as needed!

– Please also bring: on-point signs, powerful banners or visuals, noise makers, glow sticks, and wear reds and golds!

– Our hashtags are #TackleHomelessness and #TakeBackSF

Here are some statistics you can use to write on signs:

Homeless Statistics:
– There’s 1 shelter bed for every 6 homeless people
– There are 8,000 homeless households on the waitlist for public housing
– 3,300 Children make up SF’s homeless poulation
– 61% have disabilities
– 11,000 citations were given to homeless for resting in SF last year

Superbowl-Related Statistics:
– 25% of the costs for Superbowl ads would be enough to end homelessness in SF (Each 30-second Superbowl ad costs 5 million.)
– The $5 million cost to SF to host the Superbowl would house 500 homeless people.
– SFPD is responsible for clearing out homeless people for the Super Bowl by giving them citations which are already up 20% from last year.

Broke-Ass Stuart - Editor In Cheap

I've been called "an Underground legend": SF Chronicle , "an SF cult hero": SF Bay Guardian, and "the chief of cheap": Time Out New York, but to those familiar with my work, I'm just "that douchebag who writes books about cheap stuff and drinks a lot".
