Santa Clara police issued a disturbing press release Monday evening involving child pornography and a “makeshift room” with a mattress in the basement of Santa Clara University.

San Jose resident and former university maintenance worker Jason Cameron Brown, 49, became the subject of investigation in October after the basement room was discovered. According to the press release, the room contained a mattress and “various sex toys.”

Campus officials turned over a laptop belonging to Brown on Oct. 21 and a forensic analyst reported that it contained child pornography.

Brown’s home was searched Monday on a warrant and the former SCU employee was arrested. He remains in custody during the active investigation.
