The Party to Help Save SF’s Best Party

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

For those of you who’ve been following the site pretty religiously (hi Mom!), you know that I’ve been involved with the Citizens for the Preservation of Bay to Breakers, a group of citizens devoted to um…well, the preservation Bay to Breakers.  If you recall, back in February the race organizers declared that this year there would be a zero tolerance policy on alcohol, floats, and nudity.  This was tantamount to having a Three Stooges film without Larry, Moe and Curly.  The zero tolerance policy would have killed the race.

Luckily, after much organizing and fighting we won and B2B was saved!  But this means that the 2009 race (which takes place on May 17th) will have to be exemplary and that all of the complaints from the past few years (public urination, excessive trash, etc.) will have to be remedied.

That’s why the CPBB is throwing a fundraiser party tonight.  It’s a party to raise money for the B2B Flush Fund (meaning more port-a-potties), after race cleanup, and a float corral/after party near the end of the race.  While the $20 ticket price for the party is not very broke-ass, think about all those times you’ve been in a long bathroom line and thought “Fuck, I wold pay SO much money to just pee already!”.  Consider this $20 an early payment on that sentiment.  By partying tonight, you’re buying shorter port-a-potty lines for B2B.
