FREE Festival in Downtown Oakland Thursday Night

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

This was sent to me a little bit ago.  It sounds pretty cool.  Truth be told, I’m one of those lazy SF people who rarely make it to the East Bay, so I doubt I’ll get to this festival.  But my laziness shouldn’t discourage you.  If you go to this, let me know how it is:

Uptown Unveiled

Discover the Uptown District '“ Oakland’s burgeoning downtown arts and entertainment scene '“ during this free street fair open to all. Tour the lavish interior of the recently renovated Fox Theater, skate the night away at Oakland Ice Center, enjoy live music and 'œTaste of Uptown' featuring acclaimed downtown restaurants. Other highlights include unique art displays illuminating the Telegraph corridor, walking tours of the district and a host of children’s activities. Centered around the new Fox Square mini-park at the Uptown Apartments, the event will also encompass the recently built Fox Court Residences in addition to area eateries, nightspots, galleries and cultural venues. This is a great opportunity for foodies, families and urban warriors of all ages to celebrate the start of summer! Presented by the City of Oakland.
