Broke-Ass Porn: Cheap Car Rentals

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Once a week we present Broke-Ass Porn.  It’s visually stimulating material for the financially impaired.  If this shit doesn’t get you going, you’re not as broke as you thought:

It’s 9:18am and I’m currently sitting in a motel room in Santa Barbara as I write this.  I’m beginning to realize that I’m no longer running this website, it’s running me.  At this point “vacation” means that, instead of spending all day doing stuff for the site, I’m only fucking with it in the morning while K– is still asleep or sunning herself by the pool like she is today.

We both decided to make this a four day weekend and do something we’ve been meaning to do since we first met: take a leisurely drive down to Los Angeles along Highway 1.  Since neither of us had a car at the time we planned this (K– just recently got one) we knew we’d have to get a rental and wanted to do it for as cheap as possible…duh.

Luckily Becky from Keeping Your Balance informed me that we wouldn’t have to pay for rental car insurance because most major banks cover it for you if you pay with a credit card!  Holy shit!  Talk about saving like 60 bucks!  Next we went onto Hotwire and reserved a car for four days and guess how much it cost us?  Only $136.08!  Dude, that’s only $34 a day, split between two people.

So the lesson for today is that you should check with your bank to see if they cover the car insurance, and you should always reserve a car through a travel website.  Just look at the pics I’ve posted here and tell me it’s not worth it.

Now I’m off to LA.  LAter fuckers.

This is our little Ford Focus.  Great gas mileage!
