Blow Off Some Steam: Go Bowling for FREE

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

These are ready to smash into some pins.

As a zen-like way of letting out some rage, my roommate and I took turns throwing an avocado into the air and trying to slice it with a saw. Then he taped a target to the bathroom door, and we spent a half an hour shooting our staple guns at the avocado he attached to the target’s ball area. (If you’re a true broke-ass, you’re probably thinking “Why the hell are they wasting avocados?! Those fuckers are expensive!” I can assure you that they were past their prime). If you don’t have easy access to a staple gun or saw, bowling maybe a better outlet for satisfying your need for organized destruction that doesn’t involve floor guacamole. While other bowling alleys in the area beat Brooklyn Bowl for authenticity, it’s the most affordable for a few weeks. During November, Brooklyn Bowl is offering FREE games and shoe rentals from 6pm to 7pm, Monday to Thursday, which is a way better happy hour treat than bowls of stale party mix.

Kiley E - Ragamuffin Researcher

After years of denial, Kiley has finally admitted to baring a striking resemblance to Velma from Scooby Doo. Instead of traveling in a van hunting ghosts, she prefers wandering on foot in search of tacos, cheap beer, and fake birds. Growing up in Portland, Kiley enjoyed the balance of urban and green spaces. Then she spent her four years at Ithaca College, and found herself craving more sprawling asphalt in her life. So she moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where most of the buildings look like they're about to collapse. Kiley's favorite activities include: getting lost, crafting, sewing, biking, and geeking out at museums. Her love of taxidermy probably makes her a terrible vegetarian, but she doesn't care.
