FREE Live Music to Heat Up The Winter Months

come hither

I think I just now realized that there are MONTHS (plural!) left in winter. It has passed the point where the season is a charming novelty. I have finally grasped that for at least two more months there will be darkness, there will be cold and most importantly, there will be boredom. Luckily, at my bleakest hour of realization, I may have also found the place that provides the antidote to the winter blues. This destination makes the darkness feel sultry, the cold feel exotic and the boredom'well it makes the boredom disappear. From now on I am hanging out at Zebulon Cafe in Williamsburg.

Known by insider musicians and aficionados alike as the best place for FREE live music, Zebulon features a huge variety of musical acts. True to their commitment to making music accessible to everyone this weekend the artists include a diverse range of styles from singer songwriter Emily King to international band Zozo Afro Beat, to Indie rockers Numbers and letters and James Appollo to a DJ set by Josh Druckman. Sunday night rounds out the weekend with another big lineup including Sam Mickens and Mike Pride. This bill guarantees you will be able to find something that titillates and inspires your musical palate.

my new haunt

This weekend (and every subsequent day off) I plan on relaxing with a bottle of wine at the corner table and enjoying the shows in the chic atmosphere at Zebulon. No doubt I will also enjoy a cheese plate, salad, or panini from the snack menu and start to actually take pleasure in the Winter season. If you can’t make it down to Zebulon in person you can listen to the performances streamed live on  Myspace. During the day you can also tune in for a selection of artists all recorded live at Zebulon and played on the internet for your listening pleasure. Christine Witmer - Sparing Stringer

Christine Witmer - Sparing Stringer

Christine was born and raised in the land of the Pilgrims, Plymouth, Massachusetts. She turned in her buckled shoes when she moved to NYC to attend NYU. From that esteemed University she received her BFA in theatre as well as a Master's Degree in Performance Studies in 2004.
Now an actor, writer and broke ass day-jobber, Christine juggles her many personas with the elegance of a red panda. specifically the one in the Prospect Park Zoo . . . soooooo cute! She can be found most often in her own habitat on the Northside of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
