Ty Segall, Bare Wires and The Sandwitches at Amnesia Tonight!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

The beautiful Ty Segall.

Do you have any idea what Southpaw Records is?  Well, if you’ve ever heard Ty Segall, Bare Wires, or The Sandwitches, you do, because they’re all on this label that’s celebrating its first anniversary at, in my opinion, one of the best bars in the Mission, Amnesia.  Tonight for a $5 cover, you can see a set by each one of these bands and dance your little ass off.

If you haven’t seen a show at Amnesia, it’s important to know that it’s not that big of a space, which makes it great to see smaller acts before they sell out and go HUGE, but also requires that if you actually want to see the performers you’re hearing, you’re gonna want to get there kind of early-ish to snag a good spot near the front.  Luckily Amnesia is already a really cool bar and has some drinks I promise you’ll be a fan of if you get past the hokey names.  AND if you haven’t seen Ty Segall before, five bucks is a total steal because he puts on an AMAZING show.  I’d go to this just for him, but Bare Wires and The Sandwitches are also pretty awesome in their own way.

Southpaw is hooking you up good.

Southpaw Records Anniversary Party With Live Music at Amnesia Bar Friday, July 30, 9pm 853 Valencia St. (between 20th & Cunningham) [Mission] $5 cover

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
