YACHT Plays the Seaport Tonight

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

If one was to wager at what point during the process of booking YACHT that the Seaport Music Festival folks realized the cute semi-pun that they were making in booking YACHT, one would wager that it was pretty early in the process. We get it, guys – in fact we got it with Best Coast. It’s funny.

YACHT is what Portland-based Jona Bechtolt (joined recently by vocalist Claire Evans) goes by when he is dropping beats and twisting knobs and getting all sorts of people of varying drunkeness laid.  In fact, if his forth album, 2009’s See Mystery Lights was sentient and had eyes, its possible that its seen more booty than Freddie Mercury. Just think about that.

Anyway, YACHT is the latest headliner of this summer’s Seaport Music Festival, which is just about almost over. The duo is joined tonight by Black Devil Disco Club, who are well-known for not only making some pretty super dance numbers, but also doing it under fake names. The Witness Protection Programmme opens things up at 6PM.

Also, it’s FREE. And, considering how broke you are after paying fifty bucks to see Arcade Fire, we all know how much that word means to you.
