Hawaii Poke Festival and Spam Musubi Eating Contest

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Get your very own slice of Hawaii and celebrate the beginning of San Francisco Summer at the Hukilau‘s 9th Annual Poke Festival and Spam Musubi eating contest! Spam Musubi, for those of you unawares, is a block of rice topped with a slab of grilled Spam and wrapped in seaweed. If you can’t imagine finishing even one of these Hawaiian delicacies, you can imagine the awesome grossness of trying to shove as many in your grill as humanly possible. Yum.

The Hukilau is your chill neighboorhood Hawaiian joint serving up tasty food and beverages all year ’round. The festivites will feature a special menu, full bar inside a beer garden outside. Sushi cutting and lei making stations will round out the event making it a fun/beer/spam filled good time! Aloooooooooooha!

Ali was born and raised in the Wholesome/Creepy capital of the world, Salt Lake City, UT. Once she was old enough to blow that pop stand she escaped to the place that was the anti-SLC: The Peoples Gay-public of Drugifornia aka San Francisco (holla 30 Rock!). You can now find her throughout this glorious city slurping Pho and scheming with her best friend Pinky doing what they do every night; try and take over the world.
