Ever since my forced viewing of 'œRed Pavement' in driver’s ed, I have had a profound appreciation for cheesy, after-school-special videos warning me of the evils and dangers of the world.  So much so, that I have a hard time learning lessons if they aren’t delivered by the likes of Scott Baio.

Imagine my surprise/excitement when I discovered Scared Straight 4, a night of 'œmind-expanding, terror-intending and hilarity-inducing short films about the dangers of drugs.'  I can’t think of a better way to spend my Post-New-Year’s-Hung-Over-Eve!  The magic includes:

Narcotics: Pit of Despair (1967) '” square kid has a puff and quickly ends up strung out on heroin
The Perfect Drug Film (1971) '” Beau 'œStoner' Bridges gives you the straight dope
Stoned (1980) '” Scott 'œChachi' Baio gets baked, hits his brother in the head with a boat paddle
Marijuana (1968) '” a gold lamé-suited Sonny Bono pot pow-wow!
Dragnet: Little Pusher (1969) '” so square it’s hip and back to square again
'¢ Plus the amazing psychedelic animation Fantasy (1975) and a long trailer for the exploitation film Marijuana: Assassin of Youth (1935).

Cue the lesson-learning music!

Ali was born and raised in the Wholesome/Creepy capital of the world, Salt Lake City, UT. Once she was old enough to blow that pop stand she escaped to the place that was the anti-SLC: The Peoples Gay-public of Drugifornia aka San Francisco (holla 30 Rock!). You can now find her throughout this glorious city slurping Pho and scheming with her best friend Pinky doing what they do every night; try and take over the world.
