Turkey’s Nest: Take Your Roadie and Run

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

There are few things easier to justify as the weather gets warmer than cozying up with a beer the size of your head and taking a little snoozer in the park. If you live in the Williamsburg area, you know what’s coming next. But for any of you out there not sure what awaits you on the other side of the East, it’s tall, white and you will probably spoon with it when you are done: The glorious Styrofoam cup from Turkey’s Nest.

First things first, Turkey’s Nest is a place to order your roadie beer or margarita and then make like a tree. It’s not terrible inside; it’s a bare bones dive bar (good thing) that usually has the sports game du jour going with cheap prices. But if you stay, you will probably hate your fellow countrymen as they push and shove to be the next in line, or drink too many of the cheap brews and get all rowdy-like about aforementioned sports games. Not definitely, but probably!

Conveniently located at the corner of McCarren Park, it’s almost like it was built as a liquid snack stand to keep your park revelry nice and imbibed. (It wasn’t. It was there long before what we now know as Williamsburg existed.) The spot is cash only, so bring your green before you lay on some.
