Lookin’ for a real cool joint that offers cheap booze and hot licks on the jukebox? The Hotsy Totsy Club in Albany is your bar!

I know what you’re thinking: “Where the hell is Albany?” Well it’s smack dab next to Berkeley, just down San Pablo, and believe me, it’s worth the trip. With its perfectly tailored 1950s style interior, I imagine the Hotsy Totsy would have been a pretty hip hang out spot for the Rat Pack. Dig this: they have an original Wurlitzer that plays actual vinyl records. For three plays for one quarter (!), you can choose your favorite hits from Elvis, Tom Jones, The Shangri-Las, and many more.

Slide, slide, slippity slide!

And what bar do you know with a FREE shuffleboard table? My friends spent pretty much the entire evening glued to this thing, because it’s fun as hell and really pretty challenging. There’s also a pool table in the back, and it’s FREE. Seriously, how can this place get any better? How about happy hour every day until 7:00pm? Well cocktails cost $3.50, house cocktails are $6, pints of PBR are $2.50, and for only $8, you can get a pitcher. I should also mention that their cocktail glasses are the size of a bear’s paw, so sip with caution.

Bring your grandpa, your friends, or someone who enjoys nostalgia and cheap liquor. Drinking at the Hotsy Totsy isn’t an activity, it’s an experience.

Mia is a nice Italian girl from an exotic Italian colony called New Jersey.  She studied English Literature and Screenwriting at Drexel University in Philadelphia and has no intention of ever being a teacher.  Instead, she produces low-budget films with her crew/friends, one of which actually won a contest hosted by AMC and judged by Mr. Robert (Rob) Zombie.  She currently lives and loves in beautiful Oakland, California, which, she maintains, is just as great as and even sunnier than San Francisco.
