Edinburgh Castle: A Tenderloin Gem All Its Own

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Dark and divey, Edinburgh Castle is just one of those bars at which you always want to drink. It’s nothing fancy. It’s just a spacious and unpretentious pub; but still pretty awesome.

The first thing you will notice upon entering Edinburgh Castle is the decent sized smoking room. It’s a perfect place to smoke without having to leave the building entirely. The remainder of the bar is dimly lit with high ceilings and plenty of booth and bar seating. Hence the name you will also find appropriate décor adorning the walls and ceiling.

What’s really great, and broke ass friendly, about this bar are the specials and happy hour. Happy Hour, from 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. every day, consists of four buck pints and well drinks. Considering their draft selection is so extensive the price is totally worth it. Their “Recession Special”, offered every day during the same time, consists of a PBR and a shot of whiskey. Last time I was there it was Early Times. ‘Nuff said.

For more information on their specials and weekly and upcoming events check out the link above.

If you’re looking for a good dive, this is it. ‘Nuff said. That’s probably one too many, but it’s fun to write…and say.
