Christmas came early!
I am somewhat of a Kramer-esque figure in my network of friends—a fan of the weekend drop by. I like to visit my friends and have a quick hang out and then repeat that experience as many times as possible. What can I say? I like the people I know. However, as of late, I have been in the mid-stages of denial about the “Check Engine” light being on in my car. Thus, I have had to rein my bandwagon of weekend welcome to a more immediately located group of friends. I am not going to say that they are sick of me stopping by, but I like to think that others are wanting in my lack of surprise arrival. With my car on the fritz and friends in further reaching parts of Oakland, what’s a girl to do?
Well, to make a long story short, Christmas came early this year. Specifically it arrived this past Friday at 5:30 P.M. and it came in the shape of a cute little electric scooter by GenZe .

I have never driven a scooter in my entire life. I am also a spaz who is prone to fits of occasional anxiety. Bearing the aforementioned in mind, for some reason the thought of piloting a two-wheeled mechanized device made me break on through to the other side of anxiety. But Holly Brickman, Digital Brand Manager of GenZe, talked me off the roof and got me on the scooter. Was it easy? Oh hell yes. Was it fun? You better believe it. It took me about 10 minutes of coaching from Holly and her colleague and after that, anxiety be gone. Suddenly I was the captain of my own two-wheeled zippy little ship, and my regular routes to friends’ houses became new adventures. New adventures with far easier parking options- double bonus.
I spent 72 hour with the 2.0 Electric GenZe Scooter and let me tell you, for urban living, this thing is the jam. First off, it is electric, which means no gas stations (hallelujah). The battery is removable and you can charge it in your house. So the GenZe scooter is green as it gets, both in the environmental and cash-money sense. GenZe has a fresh app you can download on your phone that allows you to chart how charged your battery is at any given time, so you never have an excuse to be low on the juice. Also, by removing the battery, you make the scooter theft safe- well, unless the presumed thief is capable of lifting a 232-pound scooter.

In addition to being hella fun and both environmentally and monetarily cost effective, the GenZe 2.0 Electric Scooter is practical as eff. It has ample storage area in the back, which means you can go grocery shopping, record shopping, or whatevs without having to worry about compromising your safety or aesthetic. And I already brought up how much easier it is to find parking right? Well, let me bring that up again. So. Damn. Easy.
Honestly, after spending the weekend with the GenZe scooter, I am beginning to think that if I have to let my car pass through the pearly gates of the wrecking yard, there is a good chance scooter life will be the life for me, and I am POSITIVE that GenZe will be part of that future equation. And when that day arrives, I will be zipping around town and none of my friends will be safe from me dropping in on the fly!
