Hey Brokesters!

Broke-Ass Stuart is looking for an intern! We currently have a great opportunity for someone who is ambitious, social media savvy, and excited about arts, culture, and activism.

Duties

  • Pitch and enter at least one post per week.
  • Help with our social media presence.
  • Assist Stuart in day-to day correspondences and outreach.
  • Aid our Calendar editor in content.
  • Come to our events and help out.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about social media.
  • Strong organizational and follow through skills
  • Available about ten hours per week.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and WordPress.
  • Strong sense of our readership, style, and a desire to contribute creative input.

Okay, what do you get out of this?

Your writing work will be compensated with money per article and the social media/admin work will be compensated by payment of minimum wage. Plus you’ll have access to free tickets to events and merchandise from our store. If you can arrange for class credit we’re down for that too.

Broke-Ass Stuart - Editor In Cheap

Stuart Schuffman, aka Broke-Ass Stuart, is a travel writer, poet, TV host, activist, and general shit-stirrer. His website BrokeAssStuart.com is one of the most influential arts & culture sites in the San Francisco Bay Area and his freelance writing has been featured in Lonely Planet, Conde Nast Traveler, The Bold Italic, Geek.com and too many other outlets to remember. His weekly column, Broke-Ass City, appears every other Thursday in the San Francisco Examiner. Stuart’s writing has been translated into four languages. In 2011 Stuart created and hosted the travel show Young, Broke, and Beautiful on IFC and in 2015 he ran for Mayor of San Francisco and got nearly 20k votes.

He's been called "an Underground legend": SF Chronicle, "an SF cult hero":SF Bay Guardian, and "the chief of cheap": Time Out New York.
