It’s a big week for outdoor festivities, the whole city is going to be lit up to celebrate PRIDE, and there are lots of wonderful and artsy things to join in on this week.

I.C.E SPECTACLE

A group of Bay Area residents will create a spectacle in front of San Francisco ICE headquarters Friday, June 22nd at 4:30 PM to protest the separation from parents and continued detainment of children attempting to immigrate to the United States through a performance piece. Despite the new executive order signed on June 20th claiming to cease these separations, no plan has been made to return children to their families as they experience this ongoing trauma and indefinite detention is no solution.

WHAT: Anti-ICE protest for detained children
WHEN: Friday June 22nd at 4:30pm-5:30pm
WHERE: In front of ICE Office, 630 Sansome St, SF, CA
VISUALS: protest theater, “children” in cages, “guards”

The Gallalery Party

The Last Cat Presents: Nowhere Fast ~ Albert Reyes & Pacolli

The Gallalery is a nod to the Mission of yesteryear when artists roamed free and rent was reasonable.  If you want to see some dope art and some good peeps, check out the opening reception of the upcoming duo show featuring El Sereno’s favorite son Albert Reyes, and Brazil’s beloved daughter Pacolli, for an art show showcasing the road going Nowhere Fast.

Saturday at 6 PM – 10 PM

The Galallery

180 Capp St, San Francisco

Caili O’Doherty Quartet

How about some Jazz in the Mission?  NYC-based pianist Caili O’Doherty brings her quartet to the Red Poppy for the first time, joined by two Bay Area natives. The performance includes original jazz compositions and arrangements from O’Doherty’s debut album, Padme, as well as new material being prepared for her next record.
Saturday at 7:30 PM – 10 PM

Murakami

Don’t be weird.  Stop by for the ‘electric exhibition’ by one of the world’s most famous contemporary artists Takashi Murakami. It features the artist’s signature FLOWER works and other highly collectible works of art.  Apparently, the gallery wants you to rsvp, because Martin Lawrence is fancy.
