LGBTQ Youth Meal Night

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Even in the best of times, the city can be a cold, hard place when you’re young, queer and just spent the last of your money on a one-way ticket here from Gaybashville, USA.  The Castro can offer plenty in the way of hook-ups and booze, but often the kids that hocked everything just to get here fall by the wayside.

So if you’re new, hungry and trying to make some survival connections, drop by the LGBT Center between 5pm and 8:30pm every Tuesday for Youth Meal Night.  Geared for LGBTQ youth under 24 who don’t have a roof over their head or maybe one only a few days here and there, they’ll fill you up and show some movies, art stuff or just offer some conversation.  The center doesn’t really have a whole lot a cash themselves, so if you aren’t hurting that much, don’t be a dick.

Stephen Torres - Threadbare-Fact Finder (Editor, San Francisco)

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
